Solemn Assembly Day 38: Receive Power to Be a Witness

December 8 Devotional Meditation

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." — Acts 1:8

Devotional Meditation:

The risen Christ stands on the mountain of ascension and delivers the ultimate mandate with an ultimate promise! This is not a suggestion for a select few; it is the commissioning of every believer, backed by the power of heaven itself. The Greek word for "power" here is dunamis—the explosive, miracle-working, supernatural ability of God. You are not called to be a witness in your own strength, cleverness, or eloquence. You are called to be a conduit of dunamis, so that your very life becomes undeniable evidence that Jesus is alive!

Your 38 days of fasting and prayer have been a preparation for this very moment. You have been emptying yourself of self-reliance to be filled with Spirit-reliance. The power you are about to receive is not for personal ecstasy but for global impact. It has a geography: it starts in your Jerusalem (your home, your family, your immediate circle), moves to your Judea and Samaria (your community and the places that make you uncomfortable), and ultimately reaches the ends of the earth. This power propels you outward on a mission that knows no borders.

The word "witness" (martys) means one who testifies to what they have seen and known. You are not called to argue a theory but to testify to a reality—the reality of a living Christ who heals, delivers, and transforms. The dunamis of the Holy Spirit is what makes your testimony undeniable. It turns your words into demonstrations and your life into a living proof.

Prayer for Pentecostal Power:

Lord Jesus, Soon-Coming King! We stand on the edge of our inheritance.

· We position ourselves now to receive the promised dunamis of the Holy Spirit in fresh measure.

· We surrender every area of our lives—our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and ends of the earth—to be Your platform.

· We ask that the power we receive would make us compelling witnesses, turning our testimony into tangible proof of Your resurrection.

· We break off every spirit of fear, intimidation, and timidity that would silence our witness.

· We declare that we are not mere speakers of the Gospel, but carriers of its power.

Holy Spirit, River of Power! Fall upon us afresh. Immerse us in Your dunamis. Ignite us with holy fire. Let signs, wonders, and miracles follow our witness, confirming the Word we proclaim. Use us to turn our world upside down for Your glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen! 

Declaration of Empowered Witness:

"I have received power—Holy Spirit dunamis! I am a witness for Christ, starting right where I am and reaching to the ends of the earth. My life is undeniable evidence. Signs follow my testimony. I am anointed, empowered, and sent by the Spirit of God!"
