Solemn Assembly Day 37: Dwelling in the Secret Place

"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”" — Psalm 91:1-2

Devotional Meditation:

Listen, beloved, to the divine invitation and the eternal promise! This is not a casual call for a fleeting visit; it is a summons to dwell—to take up permanent residence in the most secure location in the universe: the shelter of the Most High. The Hebrew word for "dwell" (yashab) means to sit down, to remain, to settle. It speaks of a deliberate choice to make your home in His manifest presence, not just in crisis, but as your constant reality.

The reward for this choice is the "shadow of the Almighty." A shadow implies the overwhelming, tangible nearness of the One who casts it. To be in His shadow is to be so close that His form defines your boundaries and His presence becomes your covering from every scorching heat and storm. This is the supernatural rest that comes from perfect security. Your extended seeking during this solemn assembly has been you moving your furniture into this secret place, establishing your life under the shadow of His wings.

From this position of unshakable security comes a powerful declaration of identity: "I will say of the Lord..." Your testimony changes when your address does. You are no longer defined by the storm around you, but by the fortress you are in. You do not say, "I am afraid," but "He is my refuge." You do not say, "I am weak," but "He is my fortress." You do not say, "I am uncertain," but "He is my God, in whom I trust." Your confession flows from your position.

Prayer for Divine Shelter:

Most High God, Almighty One! We accept Your sovereign invitation.

· We choose today to dwell—to permanently settle and abide—in Your secret place, the shelter of Your presence.

· We receive the supernatural rest that comes from being hidden in the shadow of Your majesty and might.

· We declare with our mouths and believe in our hearts: You are our refuge from every storm, our fortress against every attack, our God in whom we place absolute trust.

· We renounce all other shelters—self-reliance, worldly security, and fearful hiding—and we cling to You alone.

· We thank You that our safe dwelling in You is the precondition for every promise of deliverance, angelic protection, and answered prayer in the rest of this Psalm.

Our Hiding Place! Enfold us in Your presence. Let our lives be a testament to the peace and power found only in dwelling with You. In the mighty name of Jesus, our ultimate refuge, Amen! 

Declaration of Secure Dwelling:

"I dwell in the secret place of the Most High. I abide under the shadow of the Almighty. The Lord is my refuge and my fortress. My God, in Him I trust. I am safe, I am secure, I am at rest in Him."
