September 16 Devotional Meditation

By Dr Patrick Elijah Anyomi

Key Text:

"His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire." (2 Peter 1:3-4)

Devotional Meditation:

In the Christian life, we often operate from a sense of lack. We feel we don't have enough strength, enough patience, enough faith to face our circumstances or to overcome sin. This passage shatters that perception with a monumental truth: In Christ, you already have everything you need.
The source of this provision is not our own resolve but "His divine power."The same power that spoke the universe into existence and raised Christ from the dead has been granted to us. And what has it granted? "All things that pertain to life and godliness." Not some things.

Not most things. All things. Every ounce of strength, every measure of grace, every spark of faith needed to live a life that pleases God and reflects His character is already yours in Christ.

We access this reservoir not through frantic striving, but "through the knowledge of him." This is more than intellectual facts; it is deep, relational, and intimate knowing. As we know Him more—through His Word, through prayer, through obedience—we tap into the power and provisions that are already ours.

The ultimate purpose of this gift is breathtaking: "so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature." We are not just forgiven sinners; we are new creations. Through the "precious and very great promises" of the gospel, God shares His own nature with us. His holiness, His love, His joy, His patience begin to characterize our lives.

We are being transformed from the inside out, escaping the world's corruption as we increasingly reflect the glory of our Creator. This is the Zoe life in its fullest expression: partaking of the very life and nature of God Himself.

Time of Prayer:
Heavenly Father, my mind struggles to grasp the incredible truth of this passage. Thank You! Thank You that in Christ, I lack nothing. I have been given everything required to live a life that honors You.

Forgive me for living as if I am spiritually poor, constantly begging for what You have already generously supplied. Forgive me for relying on my own weak strength instead of Your divine power.

Lord, I ask for a deeper knowledge of You. Reveal Yourself to me through Your Word. Draw me into a more intimate relationship with You so that I may fully access the "all things" You have provided.
I receive Your precious promises today. I believe that Your divine nature is at work in me, transforming me, empowering me to escape corruption and to live a life of glory and excellence for You. Make this reality evident in my thoughts, words, and actions today.
In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
