September 6 Devotional Meditation

Key Text: John 5:24 (ESV):“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life [zoe]. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life [zoe].”

When Jesus says “Truly, truly,” He’s inviting us to lean in and listen carefully. What follows is one of the most freeing truths in Scripture. He says that whoever hears His word and believes God the Father has—right now—eternal life. Not “will have,” but has.
Again, the original language uses the word zoe—God’s very own life: His nature, His divine health, His power, His joy, His peace, all given to us as a gift. This isn’t just life that lasts forever; it’s life that comes from forever—from God Himself.
And Jesus adds two stunning results:
1️⃣ The believer “does not come into judgment.”
2️⃣ The believer “has passed from death to life.”
This is a done deal. It’s not something we hope will happen someday—it’s a transfer that has already taken place. Watch the tenses!

You haven’t just been forgiven; you’ve been moved. From the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. From spiritual death into spiritual zoe. You are no longer headed toward judgment; you are headed toward glory—all because you heard and believed.
You don’t have to wait until heaven to experience this life. You have already! You have it now! You carry the life of God within you.
A Time of Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Thank You for Your word—so clear, so full of grace. I believe that because I have heard and believed, I have eternal life right now. I receive the truth today that I have passed from death to zoe—Your life. Help me to live in the freedom and confidence that I am completely Yours, completely forgiven, and completely alive in You. In Your mighty name, Amen.
